We’re recruiting for a fast-growing, market leading provider of web based solutions for the UK insurance industry. This is the team behind many of the UK’s top insurance and price comparison websites and after an exceptional couple of years, they are recruiting once more for a PHP Developer to join the team.

With a huge focus on the user journey and using the very latest and greatest tech to make the buying process as smooth as possible, this is a role where you’ll be constantly challenged with the freedom to come up with coding solutions. Surprisingly, they are quite a small company given the names they work with, they form part of a huge, huge group with solid financial backing and work on both group projects and for external clients.

The applications draw in huge amounts of data from software houses and various 3rd party systems and engines so the focus of the role will largely be:

  • Architecture and creation of reusable code
  • OOP programming and use of modern design patterns
  • Building new backend functionality from feature requirements
  • PHPUnit testing, following a TDD approach
  • API creation, maintenance and consumption
  • Utilising CMS frameworks
  • Consuming and developing web services
  • Analyse, adapt and automate existing workflows and processes

We’re looking for developers with experience in:

  • OOPHP
  • Laravel
  • Git/GitHub
  • Developing API’s
  • 3rd party integrations
  • Utilising design patterns
  • Writing & maintaining Unit tests

They offer a really good benefits package including a private pension scheme and a discretionary bonus of up to 10%, as well as the opportunity to learn new skills and input into the technical direction of the business. They have very low staff turnover, offer ownership over projects and will support you with personal development.

They highly value clean code, good coding standards and best practice and they’ve worked hard to eradicate legacy code and develop a fantastic code base.

This is a great opportunity for anyone who loves complex coding challenges and backend Laravel development. These are some of the biggest, most intricate and popular websites out there so if you want to be part of their creation and perfection all from the comfort of your own home, apply now!
